In the heart of this beautiful land, lying between the plateau of Cixerri and the bitter and luxuriant high grounds of the fluminese, there is the city of Iglesias, known as the Villa di Chiesa (Village of the Church), it is famous for its mines. The mining and production began in the pre-nuragica age simultaneously attending to the land that would have eventually became a small village of miners-peasants-pastoralists, it knew in the time periods of great brilliance and moments of complete neglect of the mining sector linked to the historical rotations of the metals market and the advantages of the numerous settlements of colonists who ruled in Sardinia.
The mining is now finally finished... After centuries of toil, manipulation of the land and great inventions, this area still amazes us... Ghost villages and “lunar” landscapes with red and black mining landfill, big as mountains; inventions that changed history; prototypes which have seen the light in this region are exported all over the world... and still a city that breathes on the one hand, medieval air (the imposing procession of Candelieri or the medieval historical cortege) and in the other it shows itself in its "new" and nineteenth century structure... There are always new treasures to be discovered in a huge variety of landscapes...
